What does connection mean to Weld Seattle?

Weld Seattle aims to create a sense of belonging. Our team has lived expirience, and understands the struggles that this population is facing. Our goal is to create a community that will not only help the re-entry process, but create life long bonds.

Weld Seattle’s home resides in the heart of Seattle. Our building is located in close proximity to several halfway houses and resources to allow for easy access for our members. It serves as our front door, and our service hub for classes, and community events.

Members begin their Weld journey at our Mudroom. Just as the term states, our Mudroom is where incoming members can figuratively take off their shoes and coat. Coming as they are, and starting where they stand.

After an overview of programming, they meet with a staff member to complete an assessment and register for our classes and programming.

From there, we simply call it the ‘Weld Week’, as members can be on site from Monday-Thursday for their first week.

Digital Literacy

For many, even prior to the pandemic, there was a large gap in technology skills. With the constant improvement and change of modern technology, even a year away from this aspect of life can set a person back.

More and more, the digital age leaves many behind, even those not legal impacted.

Weld Seattle aims to bridge that gap, offering a digital literacy class, where members receive their own computer, and spend a day with two instructors to receive hands on training from basic knowledge, up to AI use and resume development. Our aim is to further our support, and uplift with skills that will help them with real world applications.

Adjusted to the groups experiance levels. Showed actually useful and relevant tools that I can use today to accomplish my goals.” -Weld Member

“[The team is] very passionate about what they do. They make everyone feel very comfortable. We need more people like them in this world and more programs like this. Loved everything.” -Weld Member

Walk It Out

Walk It Out is an immersive Weld Seattle community event, curated by Bishop Ivy Gaines and Cathy Mallick. Rather than a traditional lecture, this unique gathering features insights from mentors, community stakeholders, Weld Members, and our dedicated staff with their own lived experience. Through intimate small-group sessions, we foster community building and encourage the sharing of personal experiences and insights among all participants.
